There isn’t much difference regarding the working of the web-page but as
this is a common question I am being asked by my students so here it
is.
In older days of Computers, operating systems only allowed three characters for the extension of a file so due to the limit, there was “HTM” extension, but as the limitations eventually ended, so these days we have web-pages with “HTML” extension. When working in a special editor for creating web-pages, like Dreamweaver or Visual Studio, you need not to worry about this as when you select to create an html page, and save it, the editor would automatically save it as “.html” file.
